Defense Industry
This pillar shows Colombia's ability to design and manufacture its own defense solutions through the companies of the Social and Business Group of the Defense Sector (GSED). Four developments are now in place: a surveillance-and-attack drone, a 100%-Colombian-designed rifle (still undergoing final technical adjustments), a domestically engineered and built oceanic patrol vessel, and a second vessel, built with the same technology, now dedicated to bringing healthcare to Pacific coast communities. Added to this is a future bet on drone and counter-drone systems, with the budget already approved for the incoming government to execute.

he Military Industry developed the Jaguar rifle with entirely Colombian engineering. The project is mature and now enters the phase that will decide it: operational testing by the Armed Forces and the National Police, scheduled for September 2026, and the technical assessment that will determine procurement.
Three simultaneous Colombian developments answer the threat that has changed combat most: the air-delivered grenade, 5.56 anti-drone ammunition, and a domestically built tactical jammer. The stated goal is technological independence from any single foreign supplier.
Between August 2022 and July 2026 the sector's naval industry delivered 136 products — ships, river boats, coast guard units and floating docks — 70% Colombian-designed and 100% Colombian-built, and exported 17 of them to Guatemala, Paraguay and Guyana.
