Two hundred and twenty-eight routes to where no one else flies

The defense sector's airline went from 86 routes in 2022 to 228 in 2026, added eleven aircraft to its fleet, and now carries two million passengers a year — the widest regional connectivity in its history.

There are Colombian municipalities no road reaches and no commercial airline flies to, because the route does not pay. Flying there is not a business decision: it is a decision of State. That is why Colombia has an airline inside its defense sector, and why the measure that matters for it is not profit but the map.

From 86 routes to 228

In 2022 the airline operated 86 routes. In 2026 it operates 228, including seven international ones. That is 142 new routes, a growth of 165% in four years, across a network linking Leticia, Mitú, Puerto Inírida, Bahía Solano, Nuquí, La Chorrera, Tarapacá and dozens of points across the Amazon, the eastern plains and the Pacific to the rest of the country. In coverage terms, it is the widest regional connectivity in the company's history.

Eleven more aircraft, and who flies in them

Network growth rested on fleet growth: from eleven ATR 42/72 aircraft in 2024 to fifteen in 2026, and from one DHC-600 — the aircraft that lands on short unpaved strips where others cannot — to eight. Two ERJ 145 complete the fleet. Passengers carried rose from 1.27 million in 2024 to 2 million in 2026, an increase of 57% in two years.

Why this belongs in the industry chapter

An airline might seem out of place in a defense industry balance sheet. It belongs there for two reasons. The first is corporate: it is one of the sector's group companies, and its expansion was decided, financed and executed inside that structure. The second is substantive: in the regions where illicit economies operate, the absence of the State is measured not only in troops but in connection. A stable air route is infrastructure of State presence, and in several of those regions it is the only infrastructure there is.
